Milk production on dairy farms is inevitably linked with water consumption (e.g. feed production) and has a significant contribution to water use and environmental impacts. It is important to gain insights into water consumption in milk on dairy farming systems in various geographical regions that takes into account production characteristics and focuses on mitigation options in order to minimize burden on water systems and increase dairy management competence. In line with this goal, the study envisaged to quantify life cycle assessment-based water footprint (WF) in dairy farming systems of different production intensity.
