Beschreibung
African indigenous vegetables (AIVs) are grown in many rural and peri-urban parts of Africa. AIVs play a critical role in income generation and subsistence as they offer significant opportunity for the poorest households to earn a living, as producers and/or traders, without requiring large capital investment. Therefore, in order to reduce households inequalities in both rural and peri-urban areas of Kenya, there is a need for the establishment, and expansion of various competitiveness-enhancing institutions such as rural financial markets, and mobile phone-based agricultural information access platforms that support and promote the access to pillars of competitiveness in HVMCs among smallholder AIV farmers.
