Scientific education is necessary to deal with inanimate and animate nature, it is a basic cultural technique. Scientific literacy as a basic science education played a decisive role in the Pisa studies. Based on the "Pisa shock" and the resulting changes in the educational institution Kita, the significance of scientific literacy for the individual and society is elaborated. The author examines how competent (prospective) educational professionals are in this area.
