You can enjoy a new perspective of the city and the lakeside communities by taking a ride on one of the boats operated by the Lake Zurich Navigation Company (ZSG). The Lake Zurich guide provides information about Zurich's most attractive recreation area.
The river cruises for the 'small' and 'big' tours along the left and right banks of Lake Zurich present selected points of interest, landmarks, and attractions. These highlight each of the twenty-two ship's stations and are listed so that they are available on Google Maps from the opposite bank [link to Google Map].
For instance, Heinrich Escher, the former owner of the Traubenberg estate in Zollikon, introduced one of the first chocolates from Brussels to Switzerland in 1697. Additionally, RIVELLA, the Swiss national drink, was invented in Stäfa. Using the special map available on Google Maps from the ship, you can identify the most visited sites. These include Richard Wagner’s “Asylum on the Green Hill,” Villa Schönberg, hidden behind trees, C. G. Jung’s house in Küsnacht, or the Villa Abendstern, which served as inspiration to Robert Walser’s novel. If you wish, you can also disembark at one of the stops to see the sights mentioned in the travel guide or stop at one of the beautiful lakeside restaurants before returning to Zurich.
