Kine (Mufuape Kinrope) has been a fish-farm trainer for 25 years and the officer-in-charge of the Highlands Aquaculture Development Centre at Aiyura for more than 15 years. Charlie Puko Availe has been the leading fish-farming authority in Eastern Highlands Province and president of the Eastern Highlands Fish Farmers Association for 25 year. Dr Paul T. Smith has been a senior lecturer and aquaculture researcher for more than 25 years. They have had the immense pleasure of working with wonderful, strong, good-hearted farmers and are well-known throughout the regions of PNG. They have written several articles as well as this book which explains the techniques and methods that succeed in PNG. Together with farmers and officers, the authors have also produced a film, Raun Raun Fisman: Travelling Fishman. This book provides technical support to farmers to help them with every aspect of farming GIFT strain of tilapia and common carp in PNG.

The three authors has been actively involved in aquaculture for more than 25 years and in the year 2000 they formed a team to run fish-farming workshops in regional villages throughout Papua New Guinea. Since then they have carried out more than 15 "Wokabaut Skul" workshops and, with their "halpim han", trained more than 1,500 small-scale farmers.
