Beschreibung

Bilingual edition (English/German) / Zweisprachige Ausgabe (deutsch/englisch) Thomas Schütte has been counted among Germanys best-known contemporary artists since he received the Golden Lion at the 2005 Venice Biennale, if not longer. Thomas Schütte: Houses II collects architectural work by the artist and is being published on the occasion of his solo exhibition Westkunstmodelle 1:1 at the De Pont Museum in Tilburg. Featuring numerous images and construction plans, the book presents 18 projects completed between 2003 and 2023 for the first time, along with their construction stories. Schüttes approach is characterized by the use of a 1:1 scale to bring his designs to life. By doing so, Schütte turns architecture into an artistic medium, creates new catalysts for large-scale sculpture, and blurs the lines between sculpture, architecture, and concept art. With texts by Dieter Schwarz and Maria Schnyder
