'The Protection of the Environment under International Humanitarian Law in Non-International Armed Conflicts': The study analyses whether international humanitarian law (also) serves to protect the natural environment and can promote its protection specifically during non-international armed conflicts. It focuses in particular on those humanitarian law rules that provide indirect protection to the environment through the protection of specific environmental functions for individuals and populations and examines repeatedly proclaimed customary law principles and their actual embodiment in positive law.

Sophia Henrich studierte Rechtswissenschaften in München und erwarb einen Master of Laws an der University of Michigan. Begleitend zu ihrer Promotion an der Universität der Bundeswehr München (UniBw) war sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Völkerrecht der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität sowie am Institut für Öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht der UniBw tätig. Es folgten Forschungsaufenthalte am Lauterpacht Centre for International Law der University of Cambridge sowie an der Université Laval in Quebec. Sie war sowohl als Rechtsanwältin als auch als Richterin tätig. Aktuell ist sie Rechtsanwältin in einer internationalen Kanzlei im Bereich litigation/dispute resolution.
