Autorenportrait

Oliver Brunckhorst is a Urology PhD Fellow at King's College London and a London South Urology Trainee. Having undertaken his medical training at Imperial College London, Oliver graduated with distinctions in Medical Science, Clinical Science and Clinical Practice and received the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine Prize for his overall finals performance. He additionally, undertook an intercalated BSc at Kings College London in Anatomy, Developmental and Human Biology graduating with First Class Honours. He subsequently was appointed as a surgical Academic Foundation Doctor at Imperial College London and North West Thames Deanery and subsequently as an NIHR Urology Academic Clinical Fellow at Kings College London and London South Urology Deanery. Along with his Urology training he is undertaking a PhD in Urology at Kings College London.His interests in academic urology now primarily include wellbeing and quality of life in mens health and cancer, acting as lead co-ordinator for several studies, including the multi- institutional MIND-P prospective cohort study. In addition to this he has focussed on surgical education, curriculum development and the role of non-technical skills in operating theatres. These have resulted in over 50 peer reviewed journal publications to date in high impact journals, along with numerous national and international meeting presentations which have included several best poster prizes. Additionally, he is co-editor of the Mens Health and Wellbeing book and has authored seven book chapters in clinical, education, mens health, and anatomical subjects. Oliver is also a keen educator regularly teaching medical students, as a clinical skills tutor and lecturer on the Surgical Sciences intercalated BSc programme at Kings College London. Kamran Ahmed is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a specialist interest in andrology, male fertility and genito-urinary reconstruction surgery. He is currently based at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi. He is a clinical Professor at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi. He is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer (Hon) at Kings College London, UK. Professor Ahmed completed his specialist urology training in London and undertook a clinical fellowship training at University College London Hospital (UCLH) in andrology, mens reconstructive surgery, and infertility management. He holds a PhD degree in Surgical Education from Imperial College London and his research interests include surgical education (curriculum and assessment tools development and validation), mens health & survivorship, sperm retrieval techniques and management of infertility in non-obstructive azoospermia. He has received several awards, and both clinical and educational grants, from organisations, including the European Association of Urology, the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons, the National Institute for Health Research, the Coptcoat Charity, and Pelican Group. Prof Ahmed has published widely, with nearly 300 peer-reviewed indexed publications and around 300 national and international conference presentations. He is editor and author of four urological textbooks and has written several book chapters. He roles included the lead for Surgical Sciences iBSc modules at KCL, education lead for EULIS section of European Association of Urology (EAU), board member of Junior ERUS-EAU and tutor on the European Urology Resident Education Programme (EUREP). He has been invited as visiting professor or lecturer to institutions in the USA, Europe, and Middle East. He is currently the Director of IRB (Institutional Review Board) committee at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi. He is the research lead for Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, UAE.Asif Muneer is Professor of Urology and Surgical Andrology at University College London. He is also a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist based at University College London Hospital, UK. Having completed his higher degree (MD) at The Wolfson Institute, UCL he went on to complete his higher surgical tr Andrologist at University College London Hospital (UCLH), UK. He is an Honorary Associate Professor in Urology at University College London.He completed pre-clinical medicine at St Andrews University in Scotland, and clinical medicine at University College London Medical School (UCL). He undertook academic training with a master of surgery degree at the University of Edinburgh in urology, passing with distinction. He received broad training in all disciplines of urology, and completed his higher surgical training at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. He undertook his advanced fellowship in surgical andrology and genito-urethral oncology at the world-renowned specialist andrology unit at UCLH, further refining his specialist skills and performing cutting-edge surgery.Mr Alnajjar has a dual-qualification, being awarded fellowships with the Royal College of Surgeons of England FRCS (Urol) and the European Board of Urology (FEBU). He has won several awards and prizes for his clinical and academic achievements, including a coveted award from the Royal Society of Medicine. Mr Alnajjar has special interest in male factor infertility, erectile dysfunction and penile prosthesis surgery, Peyronie's disease and its surgical correction, priapism, genito-urethral oncology (penile cancer and testicular cancer) and genital reconstruction. Mr Alnajjar has published widely in a number of high impact factor peer-reviewed medical journals and is actively involved in research in his field. He has extensively presented his work at national and international conferences including being an invited speaker at international conferences. He has written numerous book chapters and has co-authored and edited textbooks within the field of andrology. Mr Alnajjar is a keen mentor and trainer. He enjoys mentoring and training fellows and trainee doctors at UCLH. He is also a tutor for Urological trainees taking a Masters degree in the andrology and penile cancer modules. He is an examiner for both the European Board of Urology Fellowship (FEBU) and the membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) examinations.
