Following the suicide of his lover, the last of the 'oldones' - ancient immortal beings, unable to withstand the light of the sun - has decided to end his immortality. As he sits on a bench to await his demise, he is held up at knifepoint and stabbed to death, his blood seared into the edge of the knife.
